Fast shipping. Got 7 knives as a set, but one knife had about 7 deep 4mm scratches on the center of the blade, on one side. They offered me $5 on a $100 knife. Even when I offered to pay shipping to replace it, they said “that’s a normal part of the hand making process (to be all scratched up)”, and still offered $5. I told them to keep the $5! If you receive anything damaged, you are obviously on your own unless you want to fly to Japan and confront them in person. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE!! They don’t stand by their products and there is no quality control.

Ordered a Sakai Takayuki Non-Stick Coating VG10 Hammered WA KUROKAGE Japanese Chef's Kengata-Gyuto Knife 190mm with Wenge Handle for my partner for Christmas and he absolutely loved it, thank you so much for the excellent shipping, quality and amazing knife Hocho.

It is a gamble. Read the fine prints on replacement or return - “penalty” involved!- before placing order. Also read the replies to the negative reviews, they will give you a good sense of whom you are dealing with.

You may get a great product (seems most of the time), but if not, well, your loss unless you want to risk spending more- and why would you?!

For expensive mail-order items, like most companies, you expect a simple return slip for free shipment of the unused, unwanted product (whatever the reason), and full refund. Not gonna happen!!

So if you really want to take your chances, go ahead and order. Great collection. The processing and shipment is very efficient and fast, so is repudiation of any objections you might have …

Bad customer services, I purchased 2 knifes and issue return the day after the delivery ,then I when their website issued return, there was no return lable. I email customer service for return lable so I can sent them back with store credit. They said “i am afraid,you need to return within 7days after the delivery “witch I am return on the 2 second day after the delivery. I don’t mind to pay for the shipping and It been 10days still not sent me the address or shipping label for return yet.

Love it! The blade is thick and heavy. Cuts well. The handling is good. Extremely delighted. Value for money. Will purchase more from Hocho!

I have received my order and it was carefully packed and the quality is top notch.
Shopping was all good, just don’t expect much contact from them.

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM, they sent damaged items and despite contacting them at the exact time of reception from DHL they did not want to exchange or provide a refund. 1000 USD lost because they did not pack properly... their offer ? 100 USD (10%) do no trust this website.

Mostly writing this review as I saw people mentioning they received fake knives and I was worried the whole time waiting for my shipment.
Totally not the case, I haven’t received a fake, but a quality Japanese knife.

Bought this on recommendation from my son. Delivery was quick considering it travelled all the way from Japan. The knife looks good and feels good and extremely sharp

Purchased set of seto Damascus steel with hammered finish for what seemed like a healthy sum (over 500). One knife in set arrived with only a single blade side having the hammered finish. Was less than three months of home use before first blade was loose in handle. 20 months later, second blade loose. Company appears to delete any negative product reviews, and declined to offer any product support on defects/failures. Poor support for high end purchase. The Henkels we got as wedding present 30 years ago have held up much better, for fraction of cost

I ordered a Sakai Takayuki 240mm chef knife and a pairing knife in January my order was postponed because the chef knife was on preorder however last week i saw that that knife was back for sale and in stock. I haven’t received any updates or email. I reached out via email and on their website still no contact from them. It’s currently April 8th and nothing. I will ask for a refund soon and check out other options if I hear nothing back. I really wish I didn’t have a bad experience with this business.

I love good knives,i have a sakai takayuki black steel chefs knife. When I saw these knives I knew I had to have one. It is nicely balanced and has a great edge straight from the box. I have shown it to several of my friends and they are envious. The shipment was faster then I expected,I live in Australia and I had them in less than 9 days. When I say them I also bought several others and I am saving up for future purchasers. Very impressed thank you.

I ordered a 200.00 filet knife for my nephew who's a avid fisherman. He's used to using knives for filleting his fish. When he opened the gift...he did a bend test . It stayed bent. Company refuses to do anything. Blamed him for not knowing how to use knife.....He never got the chance.
